Janet Tran is an artist born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. She resides within the urban density of Honolulu, where her ongoing observation and analysis of the city’s transformation prompted her to pursue architecture at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM). In 2012, after completing her BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with an interior design focus, she continued her architectural studies while simultaneously expanding her interests and skills in the arts. Her longstanding employment in her family’s small business and formerly as a student assistant for the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Children Center has also been influential towards her recent art processes in manipulating spatial relationships. In May 2016, Tran was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Department of Art + Art History, UHM.
